Garrison Diversion Conservancy District Headquarters
Carrington, North Dakota
The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District includes 28 counties within North Dakota. Each county supports the operations of Garrison Diversion by issuing a one-mill levy and elects a citizen to serve a four-year term as a member of the Garrison Diversion Board of Directors.
Directors serve on one or more of the seven standing committees: Executive, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Budget and Finance, Engineering and Operations, Municipal Rural and Industrial, Public Relations and Red River Valley and Recreation..
The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District maintains its existing facilities under a cooperative agreement with the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Federal dollars are provided to Garrison Diversion for administrative and technical oversight for the operation, maintenance and replacement for the Garrison Diversion Unit and to facilitate the development of a well-trained operation and maintenance work force.
This agreement has been in operation since 1991 and will continue until an agreement is reached under the current legislation.
