New Rockford Canal
New Rockford Canal
During the fall of 1999, 1,500 feet of lining was installed on a section of the New Rockford Canal. Three types of linings were installed to determine the most suitable type for future work required on the canal. About 14 miles of the New Rockford Canal requires lining before it can be put into operational use. The lining types installed were poly vinyl chloride (PVC), ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), and very low density poly ethylene (VLDPE). From the overall standpoint of construction adaptability and cost, the PVC lining appears to be the most desirable. Evaluations will continue to determine long-term durability and performance.
